I have not previously seen a Red Kite on Port Meadow save at a great height. This one was first taken on by a lapwing, which scarpered when a crow joined in.
The crow shadowed the kite, who affected unconcern, cruising above the shallow water until the moment shown in the final picture, when the crow spread its wings and tail-gated the kite.
