The three surviving old trees across the Thames are belatedly turning to green, a month or so after everything else on Port Meadow. This is the northernmost of them.

Blossom on Burgess Field, Port Meadow, Oxford











Burgess Field is a former rubbish tip, lying between Port Meadow and North Oxford. The dustcarts still rolled over Port Meadow when I first came to Oxford. These places have to have administrative labels these days, so it has become a "Nature Reserve".
